Bob the Builder

Yay finally managed to enter a challenge today! I've had such a hectic couple of days with allsorts going on but I have managed to create this card for 2 purposes...firstly, and most importantly, it is for an order for a little boy's 4th Birthday. Secondly, it's for the Sketch Saturday Challenge #148. As I was making it, I decided to try to use a sketch challenge, just to pull the card together. And I really like how it's turned out!

The image is a colouring page found on Google which I printed onto super smooth card and coloured with my Promarkers. The sentiments are printed with Executive in Wordart and stretched (alot!). The background paper is all from my scrap box, yay me! I didn't have any orange so I coloured some yellow paper with my Pumpkin Promarker! The only 'new' card I used is the 6x6in card blank which I made from some red A4 card. I know the sketch is suppose to have 3 embellishments in the bottom right corner, but I wanted the name on the card and that was the only place it looked right!

Thanks for looking and hopefully see you tomorrow! :)

Busy, busy, busy!

Hello all!
Well I'm very disappointed in myself today...I took almost 6hrs designing and creating an Art Deco card for my friend's Mum (who is also a friend!) and not much else! I now have a cross stitch card to make so that will be taking priority for a day or so. I promise, I will post the pictures when I have chance!

See you soon with some new cards!

With Sympathy

Morning all!
Sorry I didn't get on here yesterday but I had such a busy day! The sun was gloriously shining when I got up so out into the garden I went, and I was there until gone 4pm! Really made some headway out there though! Then I did my pile of 3 week's ironing, plus bedding, then I hoovered, then I dusted everywhere, and all while doing another 3 loads of washing and looking out for Keiran! As I said, a very busy day!

So I did get chance to finish the other Less is More challenge card that I mentioned I was making, but I didn't have the time or energy to upload it last night...so here it is...

Now when I made this I was going to use a lovely 'WIth Love' sentiment or something like that, but when I'd made it, I decided it would suit a sympathy card, so I printed the font of  on the computer in Monotype Corsiva. the flower is a stamp from Stamp It that I got reduced at GNPE (though their website seems to be non-existent which is probably why it was a cheap stamp!) and I just finished it with some black ribbon and pearls. The tiny pearls are from a nail art kit from Poundland!

I like the effect of the raised petals on the flower...it gives the card a handmade look but leaves it subtle enough for a sypathy card.

Thanks for looking today. I'm working until 9.30pm so I probably won't post again now 'til tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday!

Parisian Lady - Less is More

You know, after my Pink & Green Mother's Day card I made today, which I've had a very clear idea of what I was going to do for a few days now, I got creative block for anything else! Isn't that always the way? And I was at Jen's for a crafting afternoon so I didn't want to waste the time! I did come up with another card there, but I need to finish it so I'll post it another day. Anyway, almost the second I stepped into my craft room I got hit with an idea, and here it is.
The topper is a freebie from Craftwork Cards from Harrogate last week, the lace is from my local Habiknit store and the pearls are from my stash. The Sentiment was one free off a magazine I think...

Now this was a very simple card to make, but would you believe it, something went wrong! When I came to stamp the sentiment, the pearls got in the way and it didn't stamp properly! Luckily enough, the card blank was made from an A4 piece of card so I had the single DL layer spare. So I started again, this time stamping the greeting first, and stuck it over my first attempt!
So this is another entry in the Less Is More Challenge 8 - Sketch
Thanks for looking and maybe see you later...I'm off to bed!

Pink & Green Floral for Mum

Hey all!
I should've posted this card much sooner this eveing but I have been busy blog hopping! Anyway, here is my card which I am entering into 2 challenges...
Little Claire - Pink & Green
The Crafty Pad - For The Mums

This lovely image is a digistamp from Little Claire Designs called Daisy Pitcher which I have coloured with Promarkers, then ever so slightly curved it so it has a nice 3D effect when attached to my Love Letters background paper with silicone glue. The sentiment is an old one of Jen's and I stamped it using one of her ink pads (sorry I can't remember which one). It was a simple card to make, apart from the cutting out, but I like it! Hope you do too.
Thanks for popping by this evening. Lizy x

Because You're Wonderful

Yay it's Saturday! Which can mean only one thing...the new Less Is More challenge! Which this week is a sketch.
However, I have woken this morning with a bit of a thick head after having friends round for tea last night! Actually, I woke up at 6am, after falling asleep on the sofa...something I never do! So I toddled off to bed, to find my son in it, and had another 3 or so hours before checking to see what the challenge was. I then dragged myself out of bed, got breakfast ready, dressed Keiran, and made these two cards!

This first one was made using a flower I made a couple of weeks ago from a tutorial I found here at Mainly Flowers. It's so very, very simple to make, but beautifully effective! I actually made mine with plain circles and I inked the edges with Peony Versacolor ink. The sentiment is the middle bit of a circle sentiment from LOTV, also stamped in Peony, and the feather is from some brilliant little embellishment sets I picked up last year in a bookshop in Utrecht, Holland! The ribbon is from my stash, though rather annoyingly, I can't remember where I got it from and I'm running out and I love it! I decided to take the ribbon round the back of the card because it looked unfinished otherwise.

The second card was made using Animal Antics paper from First Edition. I got it from Dunelm Mill a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've used it! I just die cut one of the elephants from it using Nesties Eyelet Circles, cut a strip of elephants from another sheet and layered it together on some mint green ribbon from my stash. I cut a slit on the spine of the card and fed the ribbon through, sticking both ends neatly together inside. The sentiment is stamped with Seafoam Versacolor ink, but I think I may have postioned it wrong...too far away from the main focus of the card.

Anyway, feel free to tell me what you think...I don't bite back! ;)
Ok, after a little crafting sesh, my head feels a little lighter, so I guess I better get some houshold chores done...how dull!
See you later maybe...

Horse and cart

Well I have woken to another lovely day today! The sun is shining and spring is definitely in the air! I had to finish the card I made for a special little girls this morning so I thought I would have one last go at the LIM challenge Masculine. I had a thought that I never use my 'My Craft Studio' cd's really so I thought I'd have a quick look through them. I really had forgotten how lovely they are so I think you may find me using them in challenges more often! I found this fab image and decided it was perfect for this challenge!
Now I really muxt be honest...this was totally the easiest card I have ever made! The image is from MCS Simply Silhouettes and all it needed was resizing and placement, and text added! However, I couldn't select the size of card I wanted (DL) so I flipped it all upside down and put it at the top of the page so it would print in the right place (and the right way up!) on my card. (the program and printer thought I was printing onto A4)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave me a comment so I know you've been!
Right, off in the garden again, then to the park while the sun's still shining! :)

Cherry on Top!

Well I had a lovely day today in the sunshine with my wonderful son Keiran. I can believe he is going to be 3 next month! Where do the time go? Seriously?!!

Anyway, I found time this evening to finish a card I started to colour in last night. It is using the image Cherry on Top from LOTV. I fell in love with this stamp as soon as I saw it! (As I do with most of their stamps to be honest!) Here is the card...

This is just one of the cutest stamps ever! I coloured it in with Promarkers (please don't ask which ones LOL), and mounted the image and sentiment onto card from my stash. The background is some cream paper from the stash stamped with the a free cupcake stamp from DoCrafts magazine and the corner cupcakes are from the same set. I finished with white Card Candi which I coloured with Promarkers to match.

I really love the result...except the sentiment panel looks a bit bare and my colouring could have slightly better, but then this is the first time I have coloured this image...

The card is set out to follow the sketch from this week's Sunday Sketch & Stamp challenge, and I am also entering it into Ooh La La's Mother's Day/Special Friend challenge.

Thanks for stopping by...let me know what you think...

Little Red Corvette

Ok so it's probably not actually a corvette...!
I thought I would have another go at the Less is More Masculine challenge this morning, as I got another male stamp at the show on Sunday.

This fab stamp is called Drive My Car from Little Claire. I've stamped straight onto my DL card blank and coloured it with my Promarkers and finished it with glossy accents on the windows....you can just see the effect on the bottom picture. I'm going to add an insert to hide the show through of colour, and I'm going to stamp the keys on the insert for added effect.

I hope you like it. I've had more fun with this challenge than I thought I would to be honest! ;)

Gamer-A-Saurus

Evening all!
I'm so glad I have managed to get on here today to post the card I have made for a couple of challenges...mainly because I love it!

This image is a digi-stamp called Gamer-A-Saurus Red from Pixie Dust Studio. I have coloured him with Promarkers, cut him out with Nesties Labels 12 and mounted him onto some dark green corrugated card from my stash. the corners are yellow paper, coloured with my gold Promarker to make it match, mounted onto red card. The sentiment is from the free Polka Doodles set that came with this month's Papercraft Essentials. The card layout is a sketch from Cards For Men.

I am entering my card into the following challenges...
Pixie Dust Studio - Go Green
Cards For Men - Sketch
Charisma Cardz Challenges - To Die For
Ladybug Crafts Ink TLT - Monochrome (I hope this qualifies...)
The Crafty Pad - Use A Digi
Totally Gorjuss - Button It!
Simply Create - Just a little Monochromatic

Thanks for popping by...please leave a comment so I know you've been and I'll pop by your blog and say 'Hi!' :)

Mum and Dad loved their card Anniversary card by the way! :)

'Man' it's distressing!

Helloooo!
Wow I have had the most awsome day at the GNPE in Harrogate today! I've met loads of lovely exhibitors, had one of my cards put on display on the Little Claire stand and spent a FORTUNE!! But then I don't make cards for nothing... ;)

So I was on the hunt for 'Man Stamps' while I was there as the Less is More challenge highlighted my lack of them and I found this one at Butterfly Kisses...

Now this card is the result of a total disaster! I had it all ready to go when somehow I managed to get silicone glue on the 'Kraft' card! So I tried to wipe it off with a baby wipe but all that did was leave a worse mark and wrinkle the card! I really didn't want to start over, and as it's a bit late I didn't want to get printing in case it woke my little man, so I decided to rub the baby wipe over the whole card to see what would happen...I mean, it couldn't get worse right? Well of course all that did was make the whole card too wet and the whole thing wrinkled! Then I noticed the silcone glue was still visible so I tried to sand it off. Then I was left with 2 sanded, damp silicone marks! Oh well...let's dot some silicone in other spots, wipe it off and sand it...so now it looks like the paper is meant to be like that! Then the problem of the wrinkly card? Well it looks really old fashioned like a card found in the drawer from a long time ago, so I left it like that and just glued it to the card blank (which I chalked the edges of first in brown). Overall, I think I like the look! Of course, when it dries, it may look totally different!

Anyway, please let me know what you think...I really value your comments. My confidence increases more all the time because of them :)

Less is More...MASCULINE!

Oh I had chills go down my spine when I saw the title for this week's challenge at Less is More... MASCULINE!!

Sorry...good morning everyone!
It is a lovely day hear in Bolton again, so I will be out in the garden getting dirty today, then cooking dinner for my parents, who will hopefully be helping me in the garden! ;)

So the first thing I did this morning when I woke up, while my son was still asleep, was to check out the challenge at LIM. I was horrified, scared, full of trepidation when I saw what it was. I don't own any 'Man Stamps' or anything very male to be honest! Something I must remedy at the GNPE tomorrow!

Anyway, I had a root around and found a stamp set I forgot I had! And here is the result...

I am actually quite chuffed with myself! The stamps are called 'Just Chillin' by Making Memories. The sentiment is printed from my PC in Braddon font but I left space for 'awsome' which another stamp from the set.

I really hope you like this card and I really do plan to try and do a couple more over the week.
Thanks to Chrissie & Mandi for yet another 'trying' challenge! ;)

I will be at GNPE in Harrogate tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll fit any card making in til Monday now...might see some of you there! :)

Bundle of Joy

Good Morning!
And what a lovely bright sunny morning it is too! I'm taking my son to play with some friends today, so this may be the only card I manage to get done, and I made it last night. It's my final entry into the Less is More Off The Edge challenge. I know, I know...I have already done a few, and believe me when I tell you that I could do loads more too...the ideas won't stop coming!!
Anyway, here is the card...
This is a very cute stamp the Jen gave me (Sizzix Special Delivery) that I repeated across my DL blank to fill the card. Coloured in with watercolour pencils and the sentiment is from a Studio G set I picked up for about 49p once.

Hope you like it...I promise, no more on this challenge from me this week! I can't wait to see what tomorrows challenge will bring... :D

Football Crazy!

Hello Thursday!
Well I was intending to go do some gardening but my little lad stayed in bed til 11am and I didn't want to go outside til he'd woken up. When he finally got up, it was raining! So after downloading all the wonderful kits from Shabby Princess, I decided it was time to have a go at the LOTV challenge for this week, which is a Sketch by Bev. And I immediately knew what I was going to do!
I decided on this image because I wanted to try the Shabby Princess papers! These ones are from the Moody Blues kit. I coloured the Football Crazy image with Promarkers, though it was a while ago so can't remember the colours. I also coloured the buttons with Promarkers to match.

Hope you like it! I am entering it into LOTV Challenge 88 and CES Challenge 27-Men Only

See you later!

Cutie Pie

Hello bloggers and fellowess cardmakers!
I hope you've al had a good day? I have, again spent the afternoon gardening...I have created more planting borders, weeded a bedding patch so I can now see what is supposed to be growing there, and planted some (hopefully) summer flowering bulbs. All in all another productive day!

After a refreshing shower, I found time to make this next card with an image (Baby Blanket from LOTV) I had already coloured sometime ago and some papers from Sweet Owl paper stack and Pink Petticoat.

I used some lace I picked up from my local Habiknit store for about 20p for 2 or 3 metres! I finished the card with 3 gradiated pearls I got half price from Hobbycraft last week. The sentiment is a stamp from a Sizzix baby set (Special Delivery)

I am entering this card into two challenges...
Totally Gorjuss - Challenge #71 Pearls & Lace
A Spoonfull of Sugar - Challenge #143 Sketch by Sonja

Although I love the CAS card style I have recently discovered, it was nice to challenge myself a little with this card...the sketch looked simple enough but it was actually quite tough trying to find 3 papers that complemented not only the image but each other too. But I got there in the end...I think!

Hope you like it.

Glittery Butterfly

Here is card number 2 from yesterday, again for the Less Is More Challenge (I really hope they don't bar me over there!)
I really wish you could see just how sparkly this card is! I coloured it with watercolour pencils, than highlighted alot of it with matching glitters. It really does look striking!

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Chrissie and Mandi for this blog...I have only been cardmaking for about 18 months years and I love to try anything but I 'thought' I was scared of the CAS style of card...turns out I LOVE it! I hope you don't mind me adding more cards each challenge...I just love showing them! If I'm putting too many on, don't count them in the running for a prize...like I said, I just love sharing, and I love the comments, even the constructive ones...after all how else do we learn?

Thanks again everyone!

Fuschias and Butterflies

Well I have FINALLY got on here tonight! I thought I was never going to get here! I have had a very busy day today...after sleeping in and forgetting to meet Gemma for coffee, she came to my house and we had a nice catch up and I had big cuddles with her baby girls Amelia :) The weather was so lovely today that I decided it was time to get some much needed gardening done, and then it was time for work!

So I have had a very hectic, but fulfilling day, and I have ended it nicely by winding down with a cup of Yorkshire tea and finishing a couple of cards I started at work (it was very quiet!) tonight.

So here is card 1...
Again, this is an image from Complete Cardmaking With Your PC. I again printed it but I figured out how NOT to print onto the back of the card! What I did was position the image where I wanted it, then I inserted a text box to cover the part I didn't want. I then got rid of the outline, so when it printed, the part of the image I didn't want was hidden by the text box, so didn't print! Yay! I coloured it with watercolour pencils (again!) and finished with a tiny touch of glitter.

I hope no-one is getting bored of my Clean and Simple cards...if you are I'm sorry but I love making and sharing them!

I am, of course entering this into the Less Is More Off The Edge Challenge (more to share it than win anything!)

Thanks for looking...hope you like it...there's more of these to come! LOL

CAS One Layer Card-With Love

Good morning and happy Sunday!
Well this challenge at Less Is More got me thinking about all the other digi stamps I have from CCMWYPC and so I spent last night having a look through them and found this one...
I thought it was perfect for this type of card! I coloured it with my watercolour pencils (so glad I've dug them out again!). The only think was, I couldn't seem to align it properly on the left edge, so...
...I decided to deliberately postion the image so that it would go over the fold and onto the back of the card, and I love the way it looks!

Now, this wasn't my first attempt, I tried it with Promarkers too. *Warning* This image is not easily coloured with Promarkers! Especially on a card blank and not super smooth card. Anyway, here is the result of that attempt, which I quite like too. It's just such a fine picture to colour in that it was very difficult to keep within the lines, or prevent bleeding.

Which one do you prefer?
I'm off to finish a 'man' card now...I will post it later, if I like it!

CAS One Layer Card-Wedding

Hello peeps!
I had such a busy night at work last night that I didn't get chance to come on here afterwards...I was too shattered!

But I'm back! To be greeted by one of my favourite challenges of the week...Less is More! And this week it's 'Off The Page'. Well I have lots of ideas, only marred by the fact that I don't have an awful lot of stamps that would really work all that well, other than my usual swirls and flourishes! Then I remembered an old cd I got free with Complete Crafting With Your PC...with wedding images on! (I know, more wedding cards from me!) So....here is my 1st entry...I'm sure I won't let it beat me this week! ;)
As I mentioned, the image is from CCMWYPC Issue 25, and I inserted it into a word document that was set to a 6x6 card blank size. The trick was getting it to print right at the edges of the card...I had to tell the printer it was printing on A4 paper to allow it to print 'borderless', but it worked! :) I have coloured it with Promarkers (Ice Grey 1,2,4, Cocktail Pink, Powder Blue, Blush, Satin, Primrose Yellow, Pastel Yellow, Tan, Cinnamon & Blender) The trick I found for the subtle colouring was to use the blender before adding colour. That way it blends to a much softer finish. Though be careful of bleeding!

I finished with the sentiment in Scriptina and a little Butterfly Trails glitter and a few pearls.

I am also entering my card into One Stop Craft Challenge's Clean and Simple challenge this week.

I hope you like it...I do! :)

Easel-y 50!

Well yet again, the world has woken to another natural disaster. I send my prayers and thoughts to everyone in Japan and all the other countries that are likely to be affected by this. I hope the nuclear disaster is averted too.

This seems somewhat frivolous now, considering the troubles in the Pacific, but here is my card for today...hope to get a couple more on later but in case I don't, get chance, here's one!
I made this for an order, but inspired by the challenge at Charisma Cardz this week...easel cards! They are one of my favourite styles of card to do at the moment because they are different and you can do so much with them!
The papers I've used are Pink Petticoat, the main image and butterflies are from Ribbon Box and the ribbon is from my stash. I finished my card with a few gems and a printed sentiment. Hope to see you all later on, if I'm not too tired from work!

For my Best Friend, Sarah!

Well I am so glad I had such a productive day today because work was soooo quiet and boring that I wanted to be at home crafting! I did, however, get chance to read both Cardmaking & Papercraft and Papercraft Inspirations magazines that arrived this afternoon...the postman was ridiculously late today!

Anyway, just before I headed to work, I went in my craft room looking for inspiration for a card for Sarah that said how much she means to me as a friend. The first stamps I picked up were my Born To Shop set and I remembered that I had spent an evening (at work!) colouring in some of these fab images with my Promarkers. So my card began. I then couldn't figure how to put it together...what papers, size of card, shape of Nestie etc. Then I remembered that I had looked at a sketch challenge over at Kenny K Krafty Girlz that I liked so I thought...Perfect! With some Bloom and Grow papers, flowers and B&G pearls, I was done!
Here is the result!
I am very pleased with this one and I really hope my dear friend Sarah loves it too! It reminds me of the many nights out we had and the many bottles of various alcohols we have enjoyed together! And the times we've cried on each other's shoulders too. And for the first time in a long time, she should get the card in time! And the best thing is I've found a challenge called' Best Friends' to enter into! :)
Thanks for listening to me waffle...I like to remember why I make a card sometimes, and what inspires it, especially when it is for someone special to me :)
I have entered my card into the following challenges...
Kenny K Krafty Girlz - Sketch
Rainbow Ladies - Best Friends
Craft Your Passion - Anything Goes
The Crazy Challenge - Lovely Ladies
Little Miss Muffet - Designer Papers
See you soon!

Say it with Flowers!

This one is for the LOTV challenge this week... Say It With Flowers.

The really cute image is Spring Bunny With Daffodils. Well Daffs are one of my favourite flowers so I couldn't resist when I saw this challenge! I coloured it in with Promarkers (Cool Greys 4,3,1, Baby Pink, Pear Green, Meadow Green, Gold, Pumpkin, Yellow & Blender). I cut it out with my largest circle Nestie, and matted onto a green Scalloped circle Nestie. The green and yellow papers are from my stash, as is the ribbon. The faux stitching was added with a rollerball pen as I don't have any fineliners. The flower embellishments are from The Works bookshop. (It's amazing the crafty stuff they have cheap in there!)

Well this has really got me into the spring mood! (Even if the weather is absolutely horrid!)
Well I really must get to work on Sarah's card... And then to work! So maybe see you later! :)

It's a man's world!

Well here I am again with a card I have made for the It's a Man's World challenge over at Ooh-La-La Creations. It was handy as I need to make a couple of cards for a commission so that worked well!
I always struggle when it comes to mens' cards....I really don't know why. I guess I'm just too much of a girly girl!
The car image was free in a magazine a while ago, the papers are from Nitwits Ginger Fellas and I've layered them all onto a printed Kraft card blank. I finished with printed tag and name, and red Card Candi coloured with Shale Promarker. I was quite pleased with the result...it's for an 80+yr old to give to an 80+yr old so I didn't want to go too modern!

I have to make a card for my Best Friend Sarah's Birthday on Saturday, so I'm off blog hopping to find a suitable challenge I could enter it into!
See you later!

I'M A WINNER!!

Hey everyone!
I am so excited!! my card Purrfect Princess won the blog challenge over at Pixie Dust Studio this week! I have never won anything like this before so I am very chuffed indeed! :D

And I have had a very productive morning, finishing off an order for 5 cards...2 of which were male cards, which I'm not very good at! So as you can imagine, I am quite pleased with myself today LOL!

Anyway, I have a few things to do, then I will get onto posting some of my current blog challenge entries.
Enjoy the afternoon!

Spring Flowers everywhere!

Here is my last post before I go to bed. I think my laptop needs some rest...it is going very slow tonight! I have made this card for the Spring Flowers everywhere challenge at Bunny Zoe's Crafts, and for my friend Jackie to give to her Nan for her 90th Birthday.
The papers are just some I got from the Paper Mill Shop, the ribbon is from Habiknit, the Daffodils are from Hobbycraft and I cut the wording and the age out on my Craft Robo. I love this card because it's so spring like and cheerful.

Good night and hope to see you tomorrow!

1st Easter card!

Here is my 2nd card for this evening...I decided to do an easter card, as it is fast approaching!
I have used the very cute Spring Bunny With Eggs stamp from LOTV and coloured it with Cool Greys 1,2,3,5, Pastel Pink, Blossom, Orchid, Lavender, Antique Pink, Pear Green, Yellow, Shale and Blender. The paper is from a stack I picked up in Holland, the ribbon is from Habiknit, and the flower embellishment was made using a die cutting set from Creatables. I trimmed a few of the flowers off the tucked under ends of the ribbons and scattered them around to finish. Oh and a wee touch of cotton wool for his little bobtail!
I've entered this card into the following challenges...
The Pixie Cottage- Easter and/or Sketch
Passion For Promarkers - Food and Drink
Scrapbook Sisters - Easter Animals
Simon Says Stamp - Anything goes

Thanks for looking and Happy Easter card making! :)

Flutterby inspiration...

Good evening everyone!
Well I am back from Weight Watchers, and I'm pleased to say, that even though I feel like I have done nothing but eat this week, I have managed to lose 1/2 pound! Yay! :)

Anyway, time to share today's creations with you all...I hope you've got time...there may be quite a few posts!
So this card was inpired by the Flutter By Wednesday's challenge and inspirational photo of blue sky and daisys.
This gorgeous paper is from a Kate Knight paperstack, free from a magazine last year. The butterflies are the very popular Tonic punch, and I sprayed them with spray mount, and brushed them with some blue shimmer eyeshadow! I coloured the tag in the same way and stamped the greeting in Versamark before brushing with eyshadow. I added the blue organza ribbon, a 'chocolate box' bow and gems. I finished by cutting the lettering out on my Craft Robo and glued it down with a Quickie Glue pen. I think this is a very 'summery' card...let's hope our summer skies are as blue this year!
I have also entered this card into the Paper Pretties Ribbon challenge.
Thanks for looking!
